		<description>Thanks to Karna, a member of my club's sister TM club, I know the 1997 winner.  Karna keeps all the old TM magazines around and looked it up for me.

The winner of the International Speech contest was Willie Jones of Pearl City, Hawaii.  His title was “A Warm Boot”.
