It’s high time we moved onto more reputable, more oratorically sound models than our high pressure, fast talking salesman for Grow Rich, Stay Rich (GRSR). In closing I ask whether he was successful or not? Success has to be defined on his terms - getting people to the three day conference, not winning a speaking pageant.
Despite being the 2005 District 2 Evaluation Champion, I botched evaluating him on this. If I were a professional evaluator/speaking coach rather than a halfway decent amateur, I would have counted the number of people signing up for the three day seminar versus the total attendance. But I hobbled out with my bum ankle on my mind and nothing more. I would guess half to two thirds of the people were hanging around in the back as opposed to running to the door. Whether it was social hour or parking validation time or genuine interest, I really don’t know.
The smartest guy in the audience and his wife left ten minutes early, reinforcing my belief that I was smart not to get tied up with GRSR. I’m so sure that this fellow was the smartest for many reasons: he was the only one who raised his hand when asked if he had multiple streams of income, he knew the exotic financial terms being thrown out, and when the salesman asked us to imagine having millions of dollars to take care of our families, his wife patted him lovingly.
I’ll be right with the minority rather than wrong with the majority.
